Showrunners left Carole Radziwill out of Love Story to concentrate on the closeness between Carolyn Bessette and her sister, Lauren. Producer Brad Simpson said the creative choice was to “make Lauren [Carolyn’s] closest confidant, and then Anthony [John Kennedy Jr.’s] closest confidant,” adding, “You know, we’re trying to pack a lot into 43 minutes.

People’s lives are full and rich. There’s tons of people in them, and you have to make decisions.” Radziwill was married to Anthony Radziwill from 1994 until 1999, when he died of cancer just three weeks after the plane crash that killed Kennedy Jr., Carolyn and Lauren.

In the series, Anthony is portrayed by Erich Bergen and is shown as Kennedy Jr.’s right-hand man; Paul Anthony Kelly plays Kennedy Jr. and Sarah Pidgeon portrays Carolyn. After the premiere, Radziwill said on her Substack that she would not be watching, though she encouraged others to “fall in love with” Kennedy Jr.
