Goal writes that Como playmaker Nico Paz has the tools to follow James Rodríguez’s iconic 2014 path and could shine on the biggest stage.

Paz impressed in his first Serie A season, scoring six and adding eight assists in 2,700 minutes, and this year matched those numbers in 1,800 minutes. Half his goals have come from outside the box, and in Como’s recent win over Lazio he scored twice, including one wonderful strike from the top of the penalty area.

Statistically he profiles well: he is in the 88th percentile among midfielders for successful dribbles and in the 30th percentile for number of times dispossessed.

Paz plays for Argentina and has combined effectively with Lionel Messi in friendlies while also showing a willingness to work hard. He is technically owned by Real Madrid, has made four appearances for the club, and the club reportedly holds a €9 million buyback clause.
