Why Jason Statham 'Drooled Over' Enter the Dragon
Jason Statham has repeatedly pointed to Enter the Dragon and Bruce Lee as a formative influence on his action work. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes he said, "If we want to talk about the movies that have made an impact in what I do in the action realm – Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon.
I’ve watched that countless times. That is a standalone pioneer in action movies, and anyone that was inspired by Bruce Lee…I’m sure everyone that has ever done an action movie has just drooled over how full of talent Bruce Lee was, and how unique he was." Enter the Dragon itself is straightforward: Lee is hired by British intelligence to infiltrate a martial-arts tournament held on the island fortress of crime lord Han (Shih Kien).
While the story isn’t revolutionary, the film became highly influential, driven largely by Lee’s performance that made him an international sensation.
