Why Liverpool's Premier League trip to Brighton was delayed
Liverpool's Premier League trip to Brighton was pushed back by 15 minutes after a road traffic accident on the A27 caused significant travel disruption for fans making their way to the American Express Stadium. Brighton confirmed on X just under 40 minutes before the originally scheduled 12.30pm kick-off that the new start time would be 12.45pm.
Players and staff had already arrived at the ground, so the delay was a precaution to ensure supporters were in their seats before the action began. The A27 is the main arterial road serving the stadium and a key route for travelling fans arriving from both directions.
It was not the first last-minute postponement this season. Earlier, Liverpool’s clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage was pushed back after a medical emergency inside the stadium shortly before a 3pm kick-off; players returned for second warmups and the game eventually began 15 minutes late.
