The defense said Emily's PH-level balancing juice cleanses and cult-like tactics had isolated Lauren, making her an imminent threat to the daughter.

A.D.A.s Nolan Price and Samantha Maroun were divided. Price, whose mother had died of breast cancer after briefly abandoning chemotherapy for homeopathic treatments, began to see Emily as a fraudulent figure and wavered in his prosecution.
