Guglielmo Vicario was left out of Igor Tudor's starting line-up for the Champions League first leg, with Antonin Kinsky taking his place. Kinsky conceded three goals inside a quarter of an hour, two after glaring errors, and left the pitch in tears after 17 minutes.

He had joined Tottenham in January 2025 from Slavia Prague for almost €15 million. The last time Vicario was omitted was at the end of October in the League Cup, a technical decision by then‑manager Thomas Frank. Tudor defended his choice before the match: "Today, I am choosing what I believe is best for the team at this moment.

For today, this is the starting eleven. There will also be a return match, so there is room for everyone." Behind the selection may be Vicario's inconsistent form in recent weeks and transfer speculation that he could return to Serie A in the summer.
