Why Vince Gilligan’s Pluribus delay is a good sign

At Apple TV’s recent press day Vince Gilligan said Pluribus won’t return on an annual schedule, noting the writers are “deeper into the process at this moment” but that there are only “[a] few episodes we have figured out.” His comments signal a slower pace for Season 2 as the creative team shapes the story.

Gilligan’s series is built on minute attention to detail — Easter eggs, subtle foreshadowing and tightly plotted mysteries about the Others, their origins and the hivemind. Elements like Manousos’ exploration of radio frequencies and Carol’s continuing journey demand repeated rewrites and careful mapping in the writers’ room.

Rather than treating the delay as a setback, viewers might see it as a sign the team is prioritizing getting the story right. Gilligan said he “[wishes] it would be” possible to return every year, and compared the patience required to avoiding the “The Pitt coming back every year” model.
