Will you be turning Nvidia DLSS 5 off?
Many PC players say they'll switch off Nvidia DLSS 5 when it arrives. Although not due until Fall 2026, the next-generation GPU suite is already being labelled "AI slop" online and prompting questions about developer creative control. DLSS 5 builds on Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling, adding upscaling, Frame Generation and path-tracing enhancements such as ray reconstruction.
Earlier versions have had critics—cards like the GeForce RTX 5080 are often accused of relying on "fake frames" by boosting fps with multi-Frame Generation rather than traditional rasterization—and there’s concern that generative AI tools could change game elements if enabled by default through the Nvidia app or games' recommended settings.
The feature should remain optional, with separate toggles for photorealism elements so players who rely on AI upscaling for playable frame rates don't have to lose those perks.
