Wonder Man pilot is now free to watch on YouTube
Marvel has posted the first episode of Wonder Man on YouTube, making the series' pilot free to stream. Disney pushed the episode past the Disney Plus paywall to let viewers try out a show that leans into quieter, character-based storytelling. Wonder Man was always a tougher sell for the MCU: it centers on a fairly obscure character with nebulous powers and is part of the "Marvel Spotlight" strand of more grounded stories.
The series focuses on an out-of-work actor navigating anxiety more than on blockbuster villains or effects-driven battles, though the protagonist’s uncontrolled powers factor into his struggles. The show stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Los Angeles actor Simon Williams, whose habit of overthinking roles has made him hard to hire.
He forms an awkward friendship with Trevor Slattery, the recovering alcoholic actor played by Ben Kingsley, and that relationship becomes the emotional core of the series, with plenty of twists that make Wonder Man colorful and unpredictable.
