Wonder Man Season 2? Marvel has no plans — Disney+ success raises hope
As of this writing, Marvel has no plans to make a second season of Wonder Man. The Marvel Spotlight series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery dropped all eight episodes on Disney+ on Jan. 27, 2026. Season 1 focuses on Simon's attempt to land a career-changing acting role — ideally the role of his childhood hero, Wonder Man — while Trevor, who has reappeared in the MCU, is secretly working with the Department of Damage Control to gather intel on him.
The story reveals that Simon possesses dangerous abilities, which drives much of the conflict. The series has been an immediate hit: it set a new MCU record on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% critics score and a 90% audience score, and it shot to the #1 spot on Disney+ upon release, according to the report.
The season's finale leaves things dramatically unsettled. After achieving fame and the lead role, Simon sneaks into the prison where Trevor is being held, breaks the cell door with his purple-powered hands and flies them both out — an escape that exposes Simon as a powered individual and involves breaking Trevor out of custody.
