Blizzard has bumped up rewards for World of Warcraft: Midnight’s pre‑patch event after players complained the event felt stingy — the company issued hotfixes less than a week after the event launched in August 2024. The pre‑patch event sends players to the Twilight Highlands to run world quests, kill rares and complete weekly Warband quests for insignias that buy catch‑up gear and cosmetics.

There are cheaper cosmetic‑only versions of the gear, but both useful gear and transmog items initially shared the same insignia currency. Players flagged a couple of problems: new gear initially cost 40 insignias, while the weekly quest granted 40 insignias only once per Warband per week (effectively one full set across a roster).

Rares originally dropped a single insignia and equipment drops were capped per day, limiting ways to earn gear outside the weekly quest. Blizzard’s hotfixes increased rewards — equipment drop chances were tripled, rares began dropping 2–3 insignias, rares were changed to only drop level‑appropriate gear, and spawn timers were cut from 10 to five minutes.

A subsequent hotfix halved the insignia cost of new gear from 40 to 20, and equipment drops are no longer limited to one per day, per character, from each rare. This tweak follows a pattern across 2024 — Plunderstorm in March and Mists of Pandaria: Remix in May were both adjusted after complaints, and Blizzard adjusted its anniversary event in October.
