WoW's Silvermoon revamp in Midnight raises questions about the new-continent model
World of Warcraft's Midnight (and The Last Titan) take a different tack from the usual expansion playbook by rebuilding old zones instead of simply adding another continent. The rebuilt Silvermoon feels completely new, and Blizzard is digging into the classic world in a way that hasn’t been attempted since Cataclysm.
Murder Row has become a sprawling district with hidden bars and noble dens, the Sunwell now sits at the end of a long ocean bridge, and small floating terraces host blood elves at leisure. The surrounding Ghostlands no longer bear a great scar, and Zul’Aman has been expanded from raid content into a full zone—together making Silvermoon one of the most visually impressive cities Blizzard has made.
