Wrexham sign Zak Vyner from Bristol City on deal through 2028-29
Wrexham have completed the signing of defender Zak Vyner from Championship side Bristol City for an undisclosed fee, agreeing a contract that runs until the end of the 2028-29 campaign, the club announced on Feb 1, 2026. Vyner, 28, said he was "over the moon" after the move and pointed to Wrexham's back-to-back-to-back promotions as part of the club's attraction; he had been left out of Bristol City's matchday squad for their 5-0 loss to Derby County at Ashton Gate the previous night.
The deal includes a one-year extension option and Vyner said he hopes to bring leadership and the experience he has gained over the last ten years to help Phil Parkinson's squad become even better. Parkinson confirmed Conor Coady's loan to Charlton freed room for the signing and described Vyner as "a really good Championship player" who can play across a back three and in midfield.
The manager said Wrexham had targeted Vyner for some time and had tried to sign him in the summer. Vyner made his Bristol City senior debut in February 2016, amassed 264 appearances for the club and had earlier loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United and Aberdeen.
Bristol City sit ninth in the Championship, four points behind Wrexham in the race for the final playoff spot.
