X previews Smart Cashtags to show real-time asset prices and mentions

Beincrypto reports X is previewing a feature called Smart Cashtags that product lead Nikita Bier says will let users tag exact assets or smart contracts so tapping a cashtag surfaces the asset’s real-time price and all related mentions in the timeline. Bier framed Smart Cashtags as formalizing X’s financial influence, saying “hundreds of billions” are deployed based on information people read on the platform.

Mockups shared by Bier show live-price embeds for both traditional equities (example: $BRK.B) and crypto tokens (example: $BONK), and Bier said the API powering the feature will be “almost real-time for anything minted on chain.” A public release is targeted for February 2026. Screenshots that accompanied the announcement include buy and sell prompts, prompting speculation about direct trading integration.

Analyst AB Kuai Dong and other users suggested X could partner with platforms such as Coinbase, Base, or traditional brokers to execute trades, or ultimately build its own matching system tied to X Money; users also asked about self-custodial wallets, DEX integrations, and region-specific broker connections.
