Quick Resume has become one of the Xbox Series X/S’s standout features, quietly letting games stay suspended in the background while you open apps or play something else. It doesn’t always work well for always-online or multiplayer titles, though—some games can get stuck in login error loops or encounter other strange issues after the console wakes from sleep.

For games like Minecraft, it’s often better to save, quit, and restart. Microsoft is testing an update that lets you disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis so those titles always launch fresh. The company says Quick Resume is highly valued but doesn’t always deliver the expected experience for certain games, especially after long periods of inactivity, and this toggle aims to address that.

The per-game option is available now to Xbox Insiders alongside other home-screen improvements, including a higher number of Groups for sorting games, custom background colors, and more prominently displayed achievement badges.
