Polygon reports Microsoft will host an Xbox Developer Direct on Thursday, Jan. 22, focused on Fable, Forza Horizon 6 and Game Freak's new action-adventure game.

Microsoft promises the "first extended look" at Fable, announced more than five years ago and due out in 2026; Playground Games will show a first look at new gameplay and the series' core themes of choice, consequence, drama, action, British humor and chickens. Playground will also present a "deep-dive" on Forza Horizon 6, including gameplay, new features and "how Japan comes to life in this stunning new installment," with the game expected on Windows PC and Xbox Series X in May and a PlayStation 5 version also expected in 2026. Microsoft also plans a look at Beast of Reincarnation, Game Freak's action-RPG set in post-apocalyptic Japan, including the hero Emma's "innovative plant manipulation actions and gameplay with her canine companion, Koo," a title first announced as Project Bloom in 2023.

The showcase is known for a "one more thing" reveal, prompting speculation about the oft-rumored announcement of new Fallout remasters from Bethesda Game Studios or a surprise drop from an Xbox Game Studios internal team. The first Xbox Developer Direct of 2026 streams live on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST/6 p.m. GMT.
