Kotaku reports that Xbox has set release windows for two major 2026 titles — Forza Horizon 6 on May 15 and a long-awaited Fable reboot "sometime in the fall" — but says Fable will launch on Xbox and PS5 simultaneously while Forza's PS5 version will arrive after the Xbox release.

An Xbox Game Studios executive, Craig Duncan, told GamesRadar the company has a "pretty simple view" about bringing games to more platforms and wants "to get this game to as many players as we can." When asked why Fable is day one on PS5 but Forza is not, Duncan admitted "sometimes we are inconsistent" and said Xbox wants to "maintain optionality." He added that if a game cannot "show up really well" on a platform the company may delay that release, explaining that "ultimately, it all comes down to resources. Not everything is limitless."

The report says it is plausible some games need extra time to run well on another platform, but notes it is "very convenient" that the high-profile Forza sequel won't be on PS5 at launch while the rebooted Fable will. It concludes Xbox's multiplatform strategy is "kind of all over the place" and will likely continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
