Xbox leadership shakeup: Matt Booty says no organizational changes underway
Phil Spencer is out as Xbox CEO, Xbox president Sarah Bond has left, and Asha Sharma, president of Microsoft’s CoreAI product, is stepping in as Xbox CEO. Matt Booty, now executive vice president and chief content officer, is taking on a new role after the abrupt leadership changes.
Booty thanked Spencer, spoke highly of Sharma and said he’s excited about Xbox’s future under the new leadership. He also noted there are “no organizational changes underway for our studios.”
That phrase often reads as corporate shorthand for layoffs, so Booty’s comment appears aimed at calming concerns. It’s good no one’s been let go, but staff may still feel uneasy about what comes next — there’s still time for further developments.
