Xgimi Horizon S Max review: bright 4K projector with Dolby Vision
The Xgimi Horizon S Max is on sale now for around $1,499, down from $1,900. It stands out for its brightness and Dolby Vision support, and the built-in rotating gimbal-style stand makes it easy to plug in, set up, and play. With a dual-light source boosting brightness to 3,100 lumens, a throw ratio of 1.2:1 and screen sizes up to 200 inches, the picture is sharp, vibrant and immersive.
Autofocus and quicker keystone correction improve setup, and a color-balance feature helps maintain picture quality when projecting onto colored walls. The projector also supports MEMC and a game mode for reduced latency. Port selection is minimal: two USB 2.0 ports and a single HDMI (eARC) port, and it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack and a second HDMI input found on the Horizon Ultra.
Dual 12W drivers deliver enough volume for a small room, but the absence of a headphone/audio port meant I could not connect a Marshall Stanmore 2 directly.
