Yet Another Live-Service Game Is Shutting Down And Refunding Players
King of Meat, an online-only live-service co-op game from Glowmade, launched last fall for $30 and announced it will shut down in April. The studio and publisher said the servers will close on April 9, 2026, and players can access existing content until then. The game arrived after a high-profile run-up that included an animated trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2024 and a promotional video featuring MrBeast.
Glowmade leadership had reportedly aimed for around 100,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch; SteamDB shows the game never exceeded about 400 and did not break 1,000 across consoles and PC. Layoffs were planned in late December. On February 23, a post titled “The Future of King of Meat” said the title hadn’t found the audience hoped for, and that the company had made the difficult decision to conclude investment in the game.
All players who purchased King of Meat will receive a full refund “in the coming weeks,” and the post thanked the community and Glowmade for their work.
