Yoshi and the Mysterious Book announced with May 21 release
Mario Day brought Yoshi to the front of the stage. On Monday a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie revealed Donald Glover voices the egg-pooping dinosaur, and on Tuesday morning a trailer for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book arrived along with a May release date.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a 2D platformer in which Yoshi investigates the pages of a living encyclopedia named Mr. E and catalogs the creatures he finds. He learns about them by swallowing them and pooping out an egg; the "Creature Discovery!" trailer shows what Yoshi tastes on screen, and the featured creature is described as having a bitter, soap-like taste.
After Yoshi finishes researching a creature, it gets a name. In the trailer Mr. E suggests the tame but fitting name Glubbit. The trailer closes with a cameo from Bowser Jr., who will be voiced by Benny Safdie in next month’s Mario movie. Nintendo set Yoshi and the Mysterious Book for release on May 21 on Nintendo Switch 2, calling it May’s Switch 2 book club pick.
