Zach Braff says he is not dating an AI chatbot. The “Scrubs” star wrote on Instagram Stories, “I’m not dating a chatbot. I can’t believe I have to type these words,” and signed off with “love” from “the guy not dating his chatbot.” He returned to Instagram after learning where the rumor started, noting, “I had no idea until tonight (because I’m not on TikTok) that these folks were the origin of this?” Braff added that the idea might have come from a storyline in an upcoming episode of Scrubs and posted, “I feel like now is a good time to be kind to people,” alongside a screenshot of Kumail Nanjiani.

The theory began as a blind item on the Jenny Slate, Max Silvestri and Gabe Liedman podcast I Need You Guys in December 2025. On the episode Silvestri said an unnamed actor “brings the chatbot with him,” Nanjiani asked whether the person was “A-list,” and Silvestri texted the actor’s name to his co-hosts.
