Zelenskyy says Ukraine will send specialists to help US counter Shahed drones
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the United States asked for Ukraine's help protecting against Iranian Shahed drones in the Middle East. In a Thursday post on X he said he had instructed officials to provide the necessary means and to ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can guarantee the required security.
Shahed drones are low-cost, long-range attack weapons developed by Iran that have significantly changed the fighting in Ukraine, where Russia has built and deployed a large fleet of the weapons. Zelenskyy said in January that Russia is building about 500 Shahed drones a day and that the interceptor drones Ukraine builds are not sufficient to counter the onslaught.
He said he had received signals from partners in the Middle East after strikes by Shahed drones on civilians in their countries and that those partners were seeking Ukraine's expertise.
