Zora launches attention markets on Solana
Decentralized SocialFi platform Zora has launched an attention markets platform on Solana that lets traders speculate on buzzwords, hashtags, trends and topics. The platform invites users to “Trade what’s trending. Take positions on any topic, idea, meme, or moment before it breaks.” Founder Jacob Horne said it costs 1 Solana (SOL), currently $85, to deploy a “Trend,” a fee meant to disincentivize spam; Trends have no creator rewards.
Zora enables “Pairs” to be created under a Trend, which do offer creator rewards. A promotional video referenced the $redlight and $coldplunge pairs under the $longevity trend. Traders are already testing the app, with “attentionmarkets,” “longevity,” “cats,” “dogs,” “bitcoin” and “aigirlfriend” among the most-traded tickers.
The platform lets users trade Trends and Pairs like ordinary tokens and track profits and losses in real time. The ZORA token rose 6.2% to $0.022 in the 24 hours after the announcement while the broader crypto market retraced 1.2% over the same timeframe.
