"Hey everyone, today I want to talk about the difference between Vietnam vets and other vets, especially World War 2 vets. As a Vietnam vet myself, I can tell you that the experiences of war are vastly different between these two groups.
First off, World War 2 was a war that had clear objectives and a clear enemy. It was a war that was fought on foreign soil, and when the war was over, the soldiers came home as heroes. Vietnam, on the other hand, was a war with no clear objectives, no clear enemy, and it was fought in a foreign land where the soldiers were not welcomed. When we came home, we were not treated as heroes. Instead, we were met with protests and disrespect.
Another major difference is the technology and tactics used in each war. World War 2 was fought with tanks, planes, and ships, while Vietnam was fought with guerilla warfare and booby traps. The enemy in Vietnam was not always easy to spot, which made it even more dangerous for soldiers.
Finally, the psychological toll of each war is vastly different. World War 2 vets came home to a grateful nation that celebrated their bravery and sacrifice. Vietnam vets came home to a nation that did not understand the war or why we were there. Many of us suffered from PTSD and other mental health issues because of our experiences in Vietnam.
To sum it up, being a Vietnam vet is a unique experience that cannot be compared to any other war. We may not have been welcomed home with open arms, but we served our country with honor and bravery. Thank you for listening."
