The intense defense of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ against the Denver Nuggets.
This style of defense isn't indicative of the NBA as a whole. This is what the Timberwolves (#1 in the league) can do because they have multiple versatile bigs and wing defenders with impressive length.
This is bad for the Nuggets because the wing defenders pester your perimeter shooters into the mid-range where the shots count for less from an analytics standpoint, and they make you deal with those versatile bigs that just clog up the space.
When you've got your opponent's operating inside the 3-point line, you can afford to double because it's easier to recover and get back to your man if a pass is made -- not as much ground to cover.
