£17 fairy lights transformed my Ikea bookshelf into a Zelda shrine

For years my best Legend of Zelda pieces sat on a plain Ikea bookshelf: a promotional plastic Ocarina of Time, an official door chime that plays the treasure sound, and a replica Master Sword among other items. The display always felt underwhelming—there's only so much you can do with a white shelf and a small budget.

With the 40th anniversary approaching, I picked up £17 ivy-style fairy lights to give the collection some proper presence. I’d seen similar setups online, including from TikTok user thecozybeastie, where lit-up vines add a cozy, woodland vibe that felt right for the Lost Woods and the Forest Temple.

I chose a 10 metre set from Auzonimics because of the positive reviews and a rechargeable battery pack, then used £3.97 Command Clips to secure the vines to the Billy bookcase.
