PC Gamer reports publisher GMedia will release a modern restoration of the 1995 point‑and‑click game The Dark Eye on Steam later this year, retitled Edgar Allan Poe's Interactive Horror: 1995 Edition.

According to GMedia, very few changes have been made and the release will be the same as the 1995 version, aspect ratio and all. The Dark Eye adapts three Poe stories — The Tell‑Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado and Berenice — with narration by Burroughs and a score by Thomas Dolby.

GMedia said the rename was necessary: "Due to overlapping trademark registrations with other long‑standing franchises in the market, we needed a fresh identity to ensure a smooth global distribution," adding, "We chose a title that places the legendary author front and center." The report says the other franchise is likely the German tabletop game The Dark Eye, and a walkthrough of the original is available online; the Steam release is only described as coming "later this year."
