21 hidden Netflix settings and secret codes every power user should know
Netflix looks simple, but it hides settings, cheat codes, power-user shortcuts and privacy controls that let you do more than binge-watch. Under the familiar rows of titles are micro-genres, buried toggles and options for locking or moving profiles, controlling autoplay, and managing devices.
You can jump into thousands of micro-genres by opening netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX and replacing XXXX with a code found on sites like Netflix‑Codes or What's On Netflix; browser extensions such as FindFlix and Better Browse add those options to your home screen.
Typing "Netflix" in the search bar surfaces every Netflix Original, and searches for "4K" or "HDR" filter by format. It’s also possible to remove items from Continue Watching (mobile: three-dot menu; TV: press and hold; web: click the X), delete items from your viewing activity, lock a profile with a PIN, sign out individual devices, and transfer a profile to a new account.
