Disk Cleanup visits Size Five Games director Dan Marshall, who first fell for PC gaming at about eight when he saw Wolfenstein 3D. "It was just such a generational leap from anything I think I've seen up to that point," he says. Marshall is a veteran indie developer behind titles such as Ben There, Dan That!, Earth Must Die and Lair of the Clockwork God; of Earth Must Die he says comedy needs "a serious heart" and that the game's core was like "fuck fascists." Right now he’s unusually still playing Atomfall even after finishing it.

He admits he’d dismissed it as a British Fallout but bought it in a sale and "fell in love with it really hard, really quick." He praises its satisfying first-person shooting, the string of mysteries in a quaint British village and an investigations tab that ties clues together.

Before that he was playing Into the Restless Ruins, which remains installed because he’s borrowing ideas from it. He likens its dungeon-building cards to Tetris and values games that put you in a pickle caused by your own choices.
