ABC shifts The Rookie to Mondays at 10 p.m. after Season 8 launch
Collider reports that ABC is moving The Rookie to Mondays at 10 p.m., shifting the series from its Tuesday 10 p.m. slot after only two episodes of its eighth season.
The network said the change makes room for new series RJ Decker, which stars Scott Speedman and premieres on March 3; that show will join Will Trent and High Potential on Tuesday nights. The Rookie’s eighth season premiered on January 6, has released two episodes so far, and received an additional 18-episode order that the article says will keep the series airing through June.
The Rookie was created by Alexi Hawley and stars Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, with Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Mekia Cox and Shawn Ashmore among the cast. In America, episodes are available on Hulu after they air and globally on Disney+. The piece notes the new time slot may take getting used to for long-time fans and that Nathan Fillion recently said he hopes the show will end in 10 years.
