Nbc reports that viewers tuning in to the January 27, 2026 episode of TODAY saw a celebration marking Al Roker’s 30 years with the show.

Roker told a January 27 People story that he hasn't "thought about retirement," saying, "I love what I do. I feel good. I love this job. I love doing it... I don’t feel like that’s anytime soon, so I'm just gonna keep going." He first joined TODAY in 1996, replacing Willard Scott, and the 71-year-old broadcast journalist has been a fixture on the program since.

The January 27 episode centered on Roker, with the cast applauding and anchor Carson Daly asking for a speech in which Roker thanked his family — "Deborah, Leila, Courtney, Nick, Sky" — and his parents, Al and Isabel Roker. TODAY aired a career retrospective and a montage of his sports and Olympic moments, and Roker reiterated that while he knows he won't work forever, he doesn't see retirement happening anytime soon.
