Movieweb reports Alicia Silverstone told E! News on the Golden Globes red carpet that the Peacock TV sequel to her 1995 comedy Clueless is still "at very baby stages."

Thirty years after Clueless premiered, the property remains a fan favorite and earlier this year the series was said to be back on track with Silverstone attached to reprise Cher. Silverstone pointed to her brief return to the character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten and said, "Well, I had such a good time being her for that brief moment when I did the Super Bowl commercial that I will be happy to step back into those Mary Janes – I'm sure she's upgraded from a Mary Jane – but we'll see. But we are not there yet. We are at very baby stages, so there's not much to say."

Silverstone added that she has had several projects recently and emphasized the importance of "great juicy characters" to play, saying "that's what we're trying to do with Clueless 2." The report notes that adapting Clueless for modern audiences could require changes because some elements feel dated, and it remains unclear how a sequel would balance preserving the original's tone with contemporary sensibilities.
