All characters and color variations in Mario Tennis Fever

Mario Tennis Fever features one of the largest rosters in a Mario Tennis game, with 38 playable characters. Eighteen are available from the start and 20 must be unlocked through play or specific challenges. Unlocking has been streamlined, but some characters still require a bit of work.

Several unlock simply by playing matches—Kamek after 1 match, Spike after 5, Diddy Kong after 10, Chain Chomp after 20, Birdo after 30, Koopa Paratroopa after 40 and Petey Piranha after 50. Others demand clearing Trial Towers, Score Challenges, or winning cup tournaments; for example, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi unlock by winning the Singles and Doubles Mushroom Cup tournaments, respectively.

There are also 20 color variations, which function the same as their original counterparts. Many of these unlock by playing matches—Lumalee (blue Luma) at 15 matches, Blue Yoshi at 25, Blue Shy Guy at 35, and Koopa Troopa and Koopa Paratroopa variants at higher match counts.
