Amazon Clears Out Original Nintendo Switch With Joy-Con Controllers
Amazon has reduced the price of the original Nintendo Switch with Joy-Con controllers, cutting $42 off the current retail rate. Nintendo raised the price of its previous-generation Switch after new U.S. tariffs on hardware, so the base model that originally launched at $300 now sells for $340 new.
Diving into an eight-year-old console might feel odd since Nintendo released its next-generation hardware, the Switch 2, this past summer and the industry’s attention has shifted. Still, the original Switch remains one of the company’s strongest consoles and offers an enormous backlog, with a first-party lineup that alone is reason to jump in.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons became a cultural moment during the 2020 lockdown and even received a new update just last month. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild redefined open-world design and Tears of the Kingdom expanded that formula, together delivering hundreds upon hundreds of hours of exploration and experimentation.
