Polygon reports that Amazon Game Studios announced in a blog post that New World has been removed from digital storefronts and will officially go offline on Jan. 31, 2027.

Anyone who currently owns New World can continue to play until the servers shut down, but purchases of in-game currency will only be available until July 20, 2026; an Amazon FAQ says in-game currency refunds are not available. The current season, Nighthaven, will be extended until the game goes offline.

Amazon previously said in October 2025 that the Season 10 and Nighthaven update would be the game’s final content release and that it was no longer sustainable to keep producing new updates. New World launched in September 2021 after multiple delays, later received PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions in October 2024, and according to SteamDB is ranked 11th in all-time peak players with 913,000 concurrents. "We want to thank the players for your dedication and passion," Amazon said in its post announcing New World's closure.
