Amy Landecker’s directorial debut 'For Worse' trailer — NY/LA theaters Feb. 27
MovieWeb has exclusively debuted the official trailer for For Worse, the directorial debut of Transparent star Amy Landecker. The romantic comedy holds an 80% Rotten Tomatoes score and is set to open in New York and Los Angeles on Feb. 27, with wider release beginning Mar. 6.
In the film, Landecker plays Lauren, a newly divorced mom who, after taking her first acting class, begins dating her younger scene partner Sean (Nico Hiraga). What starts as a fun fling and a wild weekend at a wedding leads to an unexpected connection with a fellow divorcee, the official synopsis says.
The ensemble cast includes Bradley Whitford, Nico Hiraga, Missi Pyle, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Marino, Claudia Sulewski, Simon Helberg and Liv Hewson. Landecker wrote and directed For Worse and produced it alongside Whitford, James Portolese, Jenica Bergere and Valerie Stadler.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Landecker said she had been pitching the idea for about a decade and worked with writer Daisy Gardner to shape it; Gardner encouraged her to write the screenplay herself. Landecker also said co-stars Jay Duplass and Gaby Hoffman mentored her and urged her to direct the film.
MovieWeb’s exclusive debut includes the official trailer, which the outlet says can be viewed on its site; the article does not detail box office projections or plans beyond the Mar. 6 wider release.
