Ana de Armas to Play Troubled Fitness Influencer in J Blakeson Thriller 'Sweat'

Ana de Armas has signed on to star in Sweat, a psychological thriller directed by J Blakeson that adapts Magnus von Horn’s Polish feature that was part of the 2020 Cannes official selection.

De Armas will play Emma Kent, a famous fitness influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers who aspires to become a social media star like her idol, Kat Highbrook, per The Hollywood Reporter.

When an encounter with Kat goes disastrously wrong, Emma finds herself in a perilous situation with Trent, an obsessive fan whose infatuation has reached alarming levels.

The film is described as an exploration of the dark side of fame, joining recent Hollywood projects on similar themes such as Demi Moore’s The Substance, Max Minghella’s Shell, and Netflix’s Blonde, which earned de Armas her first Oscar nomination.
