Analogue 3D Reveals Prototype N64 Color Editions
Analogue has introduced a limited line of translucent "Prototype Editions" for the Analogue 3D, recreating five colors that were prototyped for the original Nintendo 64 but never released. The launch follows last December’s Funtastic line, which replicated the N64’s colorful translucent shells and sold out in less than two hours.
The Prototype Editions come in five colors: Ghost (sea glass), Glacier (milky white), Atomic Purple (deep plum), Extreme Green (neon green), and Ocean (cobalt). Analogue notes that the colors were real prototypes: "Five colors were officially prototyped for the original Nintendo 64.
Unreleased. Until now. They were real. They were manufactured. They were never released." The unreleased N64 colors were uncovered in 2019 by Console Variations after a former Nintendo of Europe employee contacted the site. The "highly limited" consoles go on sale Monday, February 9 at 8 a.m.
