Nbc writes that Andrea Bocelli will headline the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, singing at San Siro Stadium on Friday, February 6. Known and renowned the world over for his soaring vocal ability, the Italian tenor performs with his eyes closed, sometimes wears sunglasses, and does not use aids like a walking stick on stage.

Bocelli was born with glaucoma and was operated on many times during his childhood, which left him with a small amount of vision. He moved at age 7 to live at a school for the visually impaired during the week, and at 12 he was playing goalie in a soccer game when he was hit in the face by the ball, causing a brain hemorrhage that destroyed what was left of his sight.
