Andy Muschietti says an 'IT' supercut combining both films is in development
Movieweb reports that director Andy Muschietti said a supercut that mashes together IT: Chapter One and Chapter Two—with added scenes and a possible different structure—is "something that's coming."
The comments come in a Spanish-language interview, and the translated exchange published in the report includes Muschietti saying, "[A] supercut is something that's coming, and we'll see how this series does..." Barbara Muschietti added that "Stephen King asked how the supercut was going," while Andy said the project "will possibly have a different structure and will have extra scenes, added scenes. I still have to film some of them... because they are the interstitial fabric between the pieces of the story." He also said he thinks the studio is interested in funding it, and Barbara cautioned that time is a problem.
Putting the two films together would produce a very long feature—the first film runs two hours and 15 minutes and the sequel runs two hours and 49 minutes—and the article notes Warner Bros. has experience releasing extended cuts. IT: Welcome to Derry remains a strong property for HBO, though the network has not officially announced a second season, and Muschietti's availability could be affected if the show returns.
