Gamesradar reports Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update raises home storage capacity to 9,000 items, but the combined cost of the two storage expansions is 3.3 million bells.

The previous storage limit was 5,000 items, and the update also allows players to store trees, shrubs and living flowers in home storage. The expansions cost 1.5 million and 1.8 million bells respectively, and that total assumes players have already settled all possible home expansion loans with Tom Nook.

Tom Nook requires payment up front, so adding onto an existing loan or opening another is not an option; players must withdraw the full amount from an ABD machine and hand over the sack of bells. Community reaction in a Reddit thread included the top response "Time to turnip prophet," which had more than 450 upvotes at the time of writing, and some players offered to donate bells while others said they'll return to selling turnips to raise funds.
