Animal Crossing: New Horizons adds pier resort hotel in 3.0 update
Polygon reports the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update adds a resort hotel on the pier run by Kapp'n and his family. The hotel can temporarily house villagers as tourists, and players are responsible for decorating rooms and attracting visitors. To unlock the hotel, players must first unlock Kapp'n and his boat tours: unlock Resident Services to gain access to the town rating system, achieve a 3-star town rating and have K.K.
Slider perform, and then wait for Isabelle to announce that boat tours are available. Once Kapp'n is unlocked, Isabelle will later announce that a hotel has opened on the pier. Gameplay in the hotel resembles the Happy Home Paradise DLC: players decorate themed rooms using their own catalog and some on-theme items that New Horizons makes available, though rooms can be made however players like.
Completing room designs and DIY requests awards tickets, a hotel-specific currency redeemable only at the lobby souvenir shop run by Gran; each designed room grants 200 tickets. Players can design two hotel rooms per day, continue tasks via the DIY requests box, and ship crafted items through Tom Nook to entice guests — the first four shipped items each week yield doubled tickets, with that bonus resetting on Mondays.
