Animal Crossing 3.0 adds retro Nintendo consoles and Switch 2 to Gran’s shop
Polygon reports that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons big 3.0 update adds retro Nintendo consoles and a Nintendo Switch 2 as decorative items you can unlock from Gran’s shop after working at the resort hotel; some of the consoles are playable with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Gran’s final shop upgrade adds a new tab labeled special with the Nintendo items, but the exact requirements that trigger that upgrade are not known. In the outlet’s playthrough, the main story of the resort hotel was completed (including creation of the VIP room), one additional VIP room was decorated, 50 DIY requests were turned in on the pier, and a little over 5,000 tickets were earned; after doing this Gran’s shop upgraded the next day.
The report notes the team did the 50 DIYs first and then the extra VIP room, so players may need fewer DIY turn-ins than were used here, and recommends making the additional VIP room first then turning in DIYs and checking Gran the next day (which would require time travel). You can check how many DIY requests you’ve turned in via Nook Miles achievements, and doing all 50 DIYs in a single day may overshoot the actual requirement.
