Anthem fan server project posts proof-of-concept, says progress is paused
Fans trying to revive BioWare’s seven-year-old looter shooter Anthem posted a proof-of-concept server test on YouTube last week, but say progress on the project has since paused.
The effort to resuscitate the game — which, by most accounts, was a middling release — began, as the organizers described it, “out of little more than spite for EA and BioWare.”
Those behind the server project discussed technical and logistical challenges in a new interview with Ars Technica, saying re-creating online services for a defunct title has proven difficult.
The team asks people not to expect too much: their progress currently appears stalled around the proof-of-concept stage and they have cautioned against anticipating a full revival anytime soon.
