Anthropic rolled out a national ad campaign that will run during the Super Bowl and in pregame programming, implicitly targeting OpenAI's plan to bring advertising to ChatGPT. The campaign's tag line reads "Ads are coming to AI. But not to Claude." One 30-second spot shows a scrawny man asking a trainer how to get a six-pack, and the trainer's chatbot-like voice segues into an ad for fictional insoles called Step Boost Max.

A longer pregame spot depicts a therapy session that pivots into an ad for a fictional dating site called Golden Encounters. Two additional ads feature a woman seeking feedback on a business idea and a student asking a professor for help with an essay. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he laughed at the ads but criticized what he called a "clearly dishonest portrayal" of OpenAI's plans in a post on X, saying the company would not run ads in the way Anthropic depicts and noting OpenAI would have its own Super Bowl ad about builders.
