Antony matches Harry Kane, closes on Mbappe after starring for Real Betis

Antony has placed himself among the continent's best with his performances for Real Betis since leaving Manchester United a year ago, scoring and assisting in Betis' 2-1 Europa League win over Feyenoord in the final round of league-phase fixtures on Thursday night, AFP reports. After being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford by ex-head coach Ruben Amorim, the 25-year-old joined Betis on an initial loan, made an immediate impact and earned a permanent transfer in the summer.

He is continuing to impress in 2025-26. The winger opened the scoring in the 17th minute — picking the ball up on the edge of the box, shifting it out of his feet and whipping a shot into the inside of the side-netting — before setting up Adbe Ezzalzouli’s header for Betis' second shortly after the half-hour mark.

Feyenoord pulled a goal back late on but Betis held on to seal fourth place in the Europa League league phase and qualify for the last 16. The 25-year-old already had eight goals and seven assists this season before the Feyenoord game, and his latest pair of contributions means he has matched Bayern Munich hitman Harry Kane for European goal involvements since arriving at the Seville-based club a year ago (14 — eight goals, six assists) and is just three behind Real Madrid sensation Kylian Mbappe in the same period, per Opta.

Since his initial loan move a year ago he has 31 goal contributions in 51 appearances for Betis, including seven in six Europa League games this season.
