Polygon reports that Embark Studios' Arc Raiders "Headwinds" update (Jan. 27, 2026) added two new augments, led by Looting Mk.3 (Safekeeper), which introduces a safe pocket that lets players store items so they aren't lost on death. The Looting Mk.3 (Safekeeper) safe pocket can hold any item, meaning rare weapons such as the Bettina, Vulcano, Aphelion, Equalizer and Jupiter can be stashed and preserved across deaths.

Polygon notes that other augments prevent weapons from going in this slot and are therefore limited to smaller items. The second new augment, Tactical Mk.3 (Revival), shares the Combat Mk.2 passive that restores one health point every five seconds and also includes an integrated, reusable defibrillator that has a four‑minute cooldown.

Other patch highlights include a new "Solo vs Squads" matchmaking option that grants +20% bonus XP whether a solo player extracts or not; a long‑term Trophy Display project that rewards 300,000 coins, a howl emote and a guitar; and the permanent "Bird City" condition for Buried City, which features more flying arc enemies and more nearby players.
