Arc Raiders 'With A View' quest: where to find Rotary Encoder and Ion Sputter
The Arc Raiders "With A View" quest, added with the Headwinds update, returns players to Stella Montis to find a Rotary Encoder, use it on a computer, then locate an Ion Sputter.
Rotary Encoders are purple-tier (exodus) loot and can technically spawn anywhere on Stella Montis, but Assembly or Business Center are much more likely to have them. Because the item is rare and desirable, the guide recommends heading to one of those locations at the start of the match and looting thoroughly; if you spawn mid-round, it may be better to try again.
To use the Rotary Encoder, go to the control rooms in the Assembly Workshops north of Stella Montis. Any control room works: look for a bright yellow lever, use the Rotary Encoder on it, then interact with the computer that should be right next to the lever.
The Ion Sputter must be returned to Shani, so Polygon recommends loading fresh into Stella Montis with a safe pocket so you can keep it if you die. The Ion Sputter is also exodus loot; try Assembly or Business Center first, and if those fail, check Medical Research and Lobby because they have many containers to loot.
The guide notes the quest doesn’t need to be completed in a single round and that finding the required items is largely luck-based, so there’s little more concrete advice to offer. Polygon also points readers to guides on the Trophy Display project (surveyor vaults) and the game’s two new augments.
