According to People, on Wednesday, Jan. 14, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey confirmed they will return to the stage in a West End revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize–winning musical Sunday in the Park with George.

The two shared a joint Instagram photo seated at The Art Institute of Chicago in front of Georges Seurat’s painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte," which inspired the show, captioning it, "All it has to be good," a line from the song "Finishing the Hat." Rumors had been circulating after Deadline reported in December that the production was in early development and that producers were targeting a summer 2027 run at the Barbican Theatre in London; no official announcement has been made, though Marianne Elliott is expected to direct.

The revival will cast Bailey and Grande as George and Dot — roles originated on Broadway by Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters and first staged in London by Philip Quast and Maria Friedman in 1990 — and revisits Sondheim and Lapine’s story of Georges Seurat’s artistic obsession, with the second act jumping a century forward. The engagement would be Grande’s first stage role in nearly two decades and her West End debut, and would reunite Bailey with Elliott after his Olivier-winning work in Company. Grande is due to begin a 2026 Eternal Sunshine tour, which she has suggested may be her last major tour for some time.
